Most of them were pikemen. In the sixteenth century they played an important role in European warfare. The German Landsknechten mainly carried a pike as a weapon and a Katzbalger (short sword), with a dagger as a secondary weapon. This dagger is based on late medieval originals. It has a beautiful wooden grip with
